George Harrison, 1943-2001

1 Dec 2001
With the death of George Harrison, Bono has talked of the quiet Beatle's unique musical gifts.

'There was a certain mysterious and unknowable quality about his music which made him a very attractive figure,' he said. 'It gave a whole other dimension to the Beatles.'

Harrison, 58, died yesterday in Los Angeles, after a long fight against cancer.

At U2's Atlanta show on Friday night, the band paid tribute to Harrison covering My Sweet Lord and dedicating Kite to the late Beatle.
